We should point out that as of August 1st, 2009 the Free Trade Agreement, FTA Canada-Peru went into effect. Chapter 12 titled Temporary Entry for business persons based on the CANFTA but with some differences, which are as follows:
Business visitors (see sections 2.2, 2.6 y 2.7)
Which include categories such as “Meetings and queries” to categories such as Business Visitors; including post-leasing service besides de post-sale service; and under the general Service, adding kitchen personnel (cooks and assistants) who participate in gastronomical events or expositions, or consult business partners; service suppliers from IT and Communications which attend meetings, seminars or conferences, or participate in queries with business partners; and trade workers and franchise developers who offer their services.
Hiring Employees between Companies (see section 4):
The applicant must prove he has been hired uninterruptedly during the previous six months within the three year period immediately before requested admission date; and the category of transfers within the company has been extended to include a new category of “management trainee in professional development”, in other words, an employee with a post-secondary title who has a temporary work assigned destined to broaden knowledge and this employee’s experience in a job preparing for a senior leadership position within the company.
Professionals and technicians (see section 3.2):
As a general rule, all activities and professions are eligible, with the exception of those detailed in the treaty.
SOME CATEGORIES AIMED AT PERMANENT RESIDENCY
Canada´s Start-Up Visa Program is the first of its kind in the world, linking immigrant entrepreneurs with experienced private sector organizations that have expertise in working with startups.
Unlike programs in other countries, we do not provide “temporary” or “conditional” status. Successful applicants to this program will be able to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents with no conditions attached to the success of their business.
